Gino Bartali – The Bicycles:
In 1949 Bartali started his own race team riding his own brand bicycles which were manufactured by the Santamaria brothers of Novi Ligure. They were existing cycle manufacturers under their own name. I have not yet been able to ascertain the relationship between Gino Bartali and Santamaria, whether there was a partnership or joint ownership arrangement or whether Santamaria built Bartali bicycles under license. A 1950s Bartali frame is currently undergoing restoration and will be added to this site when it is complete. The Bartali Team ran from 1949 to 1954, which was the last year that Gino Bartali raced.
