Reynolds The Company: (more information to be added)
For many years Reynolds was the predominant manufacturer of steel tubing for bicycles, introducing their famous “531” tubing in 1935. This tubing must be one of the most successful ever in racing terms, being used in the bicycles of Helyett, Gitane, Peugeot, Motobecane, Mercier, Raleigh. I seem to recall a Reynolds advertisement some years ago recording the number of Tour de France wins by bikes made with 531, this would probably have been at some point in the 1980s, but maybe earlier.
