Notes:

The Tour de France model was Motobecane’s top tier racing bike – in this case a replica of the Bic team bikes.  The dating of this bike is slightly uncertain but the style of the decals is consistent with the Bic Team bikes of 1970-72.  They were changed in 1973, the year in which Bic Team rider Luis Ocana won the Tour de France.

This bicycle was acquired as a frameset and has been built up temporarily with components that were supplied with a 1973 Bic team bike, the frame of which is currently undergoing restoration.  A notable feature of the team bikes was the distinctive drilling of the Campagnolo Record brake levers.

The Tour de France model was marketed in North America as the “Team Champion” or “Champion Team” with more restrained decals.
