There is very little catalogue information on the Motobecane Super Champion and all the information tends to indicate that this was a one-year-only model in 1975. You can reference my blog post on this model HERE.
There are a few variations in the specification of these models in the examples that I can find on the internet. The frames are all very similar with three main tubes from Reynolds butted 531 and half chrome fork. the only structural difference that I have noted is that some forks have a stamped steel crown and some, like this one, have a forged Wagner crown. They also appear in a wide range of colours. The biggest variation is in the brakes which can be Universal Super 68, as on this bike, or Weinmann centre-pull or Dia-Compe.
This is certainly a third tier racing bike after the Team Champion (a.k.a. Champion Team or Tour de France) and the Le Champion, both of which had Reynolds 531 tubes throughout and Campagnolo groupsets. Nevertheless it is a worthy racing bike and not at much of a competitive disadvantage compared to its better stablemates.
This bike is fairly close to the UK spec shown on the blog post referenced above.
